Leona LaurenLeona Louise (born 3 April 1986) is a British performer, actress an activist, actor, and singer. Born and raised in Islington, a part of the London Borough of Islington, she studied at her school at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis gained the attention of the nation when she was crowned The X factor's third season in 2006. Also, she was awarded the PS1 Million recording contract from Syco Music. The winner's single, which was a cover Kelly Clarkson's song "A Moment like This", reached 50,000 downloads within 30 minutes, and was ranked at the top of the charts for the duration of four weeks. In February 2007, Lewis signed a five-album contract in the United States with Clive Davis's record label J Records. Lewis's success only increased when she dropped her debut album Spirit (2007). It is certified platinum within the UK, becoming the fourth-best-selling album in the 2000s. It is reported by the Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the 21st-century's best-selling album of debut by a female artist. Its lead single "Bleeding Love" remains on top of the UK charts for seven weeks before becoming the top-selling single of 2007. It was also the most-sold single during 2008, as well. Lewis won an award for her work, the Billboard Award for the Most Popular New Artist. Echo was her second studio album. The album also featured the track "I See You" in the movie Avatar. In the year 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide" as a collaborative effort with Swedish DJ Avicii as well as her first extended work, Hurt: The EP. Glassheart (2012) was Lewis the release of her 3rd studio album. This was Lewis the first time she tried electronic music , dubstep, and electronic music. She began to record material for her first Christmas album during her Glassheart Tour, which took place in mid 2013. The album Christmas, With Love came out in the latter half of 2013. The lead track, One More Sleep, was a top 3 hit within the UK. It made Lewis to be the first British independent female musician to reach the top fivespots with eight singles. Lewis also broke Olivia Newton-John's seven record.
